Liberty's first layer is built on the Ethereum blockchain, a decentralized and open-source blockchain with the capability to execute smart contracts. This is where Liberty's token, LBRT, will be hosted. Ethereum recently transitioned from a proof-of-stake to a proof-of-validation consensus mechanism, which defines how blockchain nodes validate transactions.
